I am a huge fan of blogging (and video and writing in general) because it is the number one source online for targeted and highly responsive traffic. This is why I want to help you start your niche affiliate blog from scratch, and not just on this blog, but through a simple 60-day coaching program I will show you as well.

First, however, let’s think about this for a moment. I know you’ve heard about the magical world of Facebook retargeting, of course. But, where do you think the traffic for retargeting came from in the first place, and why do you think that traffic sticks around to like a page, let alone the content shared upon it?

Do you actually think people want to be sold to all day and that is why we “like” pages on Facebook, and follow great blogs? Well, here are the facts to truly succeed with niche affiliate marketing today. Let’s get started!

The niche affiliate blog.

Before I get into how to start a niche affiliate blog, I am going to assume you like blogging or you at least like the thought of earning an income through creating awesome content a few hours a week.

But, just in case you are worried about some of the falsehoods you have been told online about blogging and traffic, well, let’s take a look.

Facts about blogs:

1. 6.7 million people blog on blogging sites and 12 million people blog via social networks.

2. 46 % of Internet time is spent on blogs and social networks.

3. Bloggers between the ages of 25 and 50 dominate blogging, totaling more than 53%.

4. There are more than 80 known languages utilized in the blogosphere.

5. Blogs can assist you with the effective promotion of a service or product.

6. More than 60% of U.S. online consumers say they’ve made a purchase as a direct result of reading a blogger’s recommendation. (Factbrowser)

7. Blogs are the most valuable type of content, according to more than ⅓rd of today’s marketers.

8. B2B marketers who blog gain a 67% increase in lead generation over their peers that don’t.

9. Writing anywhere from 21 – 54 posts can significantly boost traffic to your blog by 30+%.

10. Websites with Blogs have 434% more indexed pages (helps search engines & SEO efforts) and 97 % more inbound links.

11. Creating, optimizing, and promoting content is key to filling the top of your sales and marketing funnel with more online traffic and leads.

Never underestimate the power of a blog, it is still the number two traffic converting platform online today next to email marketing. Of course, video drives a ton of traffic too, but nothing converts like a blog and email.

Oh, and look at #11 above if you can real quick again… Okay, let’s move on now.

Finding that affiliate niche.

Finding your niche is probably the hardest part of this simple, not easy, but still simple journey into starting and growing a successful niche affiliate blog.

There are some popular voices, even today, who say it does not matter if you are truly interested in or have any passion whatsoever for the niche itself. A part of me knows this to be true.

However, for the most part, I hate it when I see people follow that advice because, usually, well, their short journey ends in failure. Personally, I get the idea of building on the latest bright and shiny object, hey, I’ve done it and it worked. But, it did not last, not like my niche blogs built around subjects I actually love have.

So, for now, I suggest you find what you love and build on that. Besides, when it comes to creating content, it sure is easier to start with something you at least a little bit about, you’re blogging after all.

Keyword research still matters. When you’ve finally chosen a niche, hopefully, something you are familiar with, keyword research will help you better define whether or not the affiliate income potential would be worth the journey itself.

Yes, you may love to crochet’ or collect Rubix Cube’s, but you are here to make money, and some things may not have enough volume of interest to be worth trying to build and monetize a niche affiliate blog with.

Here are the tools I use when determining if there is a good enough volume of possible traffic:

  • Google Keyword Planner
  • Google Trends
  • Buzzsumo
  • and for poops and giggles with competitors, I use SimilarWeb.Com
  • For social media popularity, I also use Hashtagify

A simple list that will help you discover whether or not your niche is viable in the next 20 minutes.

Follow your gut here, if a niche you have no real interest in it for you, go for it, and if you have something you love already in mind, go for that. Either way, keep on reading and then get started!

The blogging platform we call WordPress.

Wix, no. Tumblr, no. Squarespace, no. Weebly, no, never, that is crazy! WordPress, YES!

WordPress is no more difficult or simple as any other content management system, what makes it seem more complicated, however, are you and the voices you keep listening to online.

Seriously, I had this new “me” website and blog up in two weeks, and it took me that long because I wrote nearly 20,000 words on it before I published it!

Now, you do not need to write that much in your new WordPress blog to get started with your niche affiliate blogging future, you only need the following I believe;

  • An about page
  • A keyword focus page about your particular niche
  • 2-3 blog posts
  • And do not forget video on the blog posts!

As far as plugins to help you optimize and better the aesthetics of your niche blog, let me suggest the following plugins;

  •  SEO by Yoast
  • WP optimize
  • Broken link checker
  • ClickFunnels (click here for that one)
  • Akismet Anti-Spam
  • Facebook like widget
  • Social Warfare

Of course, there are some that might come with your theme that will need to be installed.

But, in the end, WordPress is best, and it is simple to work with. And, if you need help, just let me know!

The social presence.

You will need a social media presence to grow your audience and influence.

Some will say you need to be on all the channels you can, I say forget that headache and be where your traffic actually is and spends most of their time!

Personally, yes, you need a Facebook page, that is obvious. However, you may not need LinkedIn or Pinterest, maybe Facebook and Instagram only would do. When it comes to figuring this all out, however, there are two steps I use every time, and they are;

  1. Find my top 3-4 competitors for a lack of a better term
  2. And then, I go to SimilarWeb.Com and find out where they are spending most of their time

This is simple and should only take you about 15-20 minutes to figure out where you need to be.

I spend my time wisely where I need to, like my Instagram and Facebook page profiles. Next, to that, I spend the rest of my time creating great blog content and videos to share to those channels.

The best way to grow your social media is to always be engaging with people as you can. Share other peoples content on a regular basis. And, as you create and publish it, share your own awesome content.

Those three little tips in those three little sentences above have helped me grow something amazing online, and so it will for you too.

When it comes to building a niche affiliate blog today, you need social media working from day one. Personally, when I am building a niche blog I literally start with setting up social media pages first.

And just so you know, Facebook will be your new best friend as you can drive a ton of great traffic to your blog, get your retargeting pixel upon it, and shower them with awesome offers through your Facebook advertising campaigns from then on.

The list building and niche sales funnel machine.

Personally, you need to know that building a list here is a must, as a matter off act, between internet marketers and digital entrepreneurs, it is the law as far as we are concerned.

You need a list building funnel, and you need a sales conversion funnel, and yes, they are different from each other, yet rely on the same concepts, practices, and even software.

As far as the list building side of the efforts go with your niche affiliate blog, well, might I suggest these three things for the best possible “ethical bribes to subscribe” if you will;

  1. A free video series.
  2. A free downloadable e-book.
  3. Free consultation.

Depending on your affiliate niche the third one could be a great way to go. However, for the most part, and based on popularity, a video or e-book work best otherwise.

Sales funnels may be run on the same software, but they can be delivered like a newsletter, but, the other advantage of them is the fact that you can create sales pages for your Facebook campaigns as well.

Either way, a list building and sales funnel are a must for the building of a serious affiliate income with your new niche blog.

Follow up and follow through.

When it comes down to it, most of your income from your niche affiliate blog will be converted through your email marketing campaign(s).

As a matter of fact, this is just a fact, look at most of those you follow now, are you on their list? Are they trying to build trust in you and convince you they have the answer or the at least something you think you need or want? If so, they are doing a great job, and so must you!

Follow up and follow through is not just a mindset behind the work that needs to be done, it is also a strategy for email marketing.

Your email marketing strategy needs to be as targeted and effective as your content marketing strategy is or, well, you will not generate the kind of income you want here, period. That is how important this platform is today.

Content matters.

Content, whether it is your weekly blog post, the video that goes with it, or social media meme, sharing, and the webinar you hold, content is content and it matters most!

Better converting than Facebook ads campaigns, content marketing has always, and seems to be continuing for the foreseeable future, its power of generating what converts best online, the know, the like, and the trust!

Without those three things above, your journey into success with your new niche affiliate blog enterprise will most likely be fruitless. Don’t let that happen, get the right mix of content and paid media marketing reach.
