How To Better Your YoutTube Optimization For More Traffic – Video Optimization Tips

How to better your YouTube optimization for more traffic, and I literally mean getting above the fold with your videos on YouTube and any other video marketing platform for that matter.

Video optimization is not that difficult to learn and apply, nor should you be paying a proverbial arm-and-a-leg to learn it either. For as simple, effective and straightforward it is, I am surprised more people do not use these basic optimization practices.

Here, and for free, I will teach you some of the very basic and most effective YouTube video optimization secrets that are in fact, not-so-secret at all, not even close. Most of the time, and by most good folks here, they are simply not known, not just ignored.

You Need YouTube, You Need Video Today.

I believe that without a least some presence on YouTube, you are simply making it harder on yourself and your business to drive and convert quality traffic today. Heck, I believe even short to the point video on social media works great as well, especially in cahoots with your YouTube presence.

Looking at some of the video marketing statistics today, I’m sure you can agree with me to some point:

Killer facts that really do change how we should view our future in video marketing. I mean seriously, 50% of al content consumed via smartphones today is video! We need to start adding video into are regular marketing habits now, not later…

Let’s get to video optimization.

#1 – Loading Video To Your PC.

I know this is something rather obvious, the fact that you need to upload the video you made to your PC first, at least most of the time we do, but it is important what we do with it here.

And it is simple; you will rename that video file based on the keyword phrase of the blog post or static page it will eventually be embedded upon.

Yes, video can be stand alone, like when making a short video on Facebook, Google Plus or Twitter. From updates to short tips or something entertaining, it is all good when connecting with people today, even if it is a little less business, and more personal brand.

But, with many of the more “educational” content, well, many times we will be at a desktop for this business end of the stick, and as far as your video SEO is concerned, I want you to follow what I said above, change the file name!

#2 – Load Video To YouTube.

Now before we get to optimizing your YouTube video, I suppose I should tell you that YOUTUBE IS A MUST!

The second largest search engine on the planet is not Facebook, a serious search for real answers starts at search engines like Google, Bing, and yes, YouTube is the second choice by most people.

We like video; it is easier to consume the information and easier to get to.

You will load your video to YouTube at this point.

#3 – Your Video Title.

When you look, you’ll see that the name of the file is now the title of the YouTube video. Copy the blog post or web page title and paste it in here now.

Now, in the description box, paste it again. Yes, you heard me right, paste it again. Now let’s get to the rest of the description.

#4 – The Description Box.

Here we go, the meat of the subject!

The first thing to do here is paste in your title again and paste the link to the blog post it will be embedded on right after it.

Next is to grab the first 2-3 paragraphs of the blog post and paste it under the title in the description section. After that, paste in the website address, this time just the main website address.

#5 – Social Sharing Box.

This is simple.

First off, run over to Hastagify.com and look for the best hashtag that is popular enough and speaks to the content itself.

Next, you will paste the first paragraph in the box and make sure that your social media connections to Twitter are set up, Google Plus is already done when you have a YouTube channel live.

Add your hashtags.

Paste in the full link to the blog post the video is embedded upon.

#6 – Tags For Your Youtube Video.

Break up your title into 2-3 word phrases. Once this is done, add in one or two more.

However, do not go overboard here. Yes, this is part of the ranking factors for Google’s YouTube, but it is not the end-all-be-all of them. Keep it simple here, but do not be spammy with your tags.

#7 – Thumbnail Time.

I like to keep it natural, so I do not, or very often at least, use a crafted thumbnail image.

To thumbnail or not to thumbnail, that is the question,” I suggest you go with your gut here. Personally, I like the plain-Jane (or Jim in my case) of the thumbnail provided by YouTube; it lets people know they are going to get an on-screen or whiteboard training or help.

But, in the end, go with your gut, here and there a seriously professional thumbnail can be great!

#8 – Embed YouTube Video On Blog Post.

Under the “more tag” for you WordPress users, which is under the 2nd or 3rd paragraph, that is where the video will be embedded.

What about just pasting the link with a special plugin? I think that is fine, whether you do it old school with more control with the iFrame code or a link, just embed it!

#9- Publish, Add YouTube Card.

Take the link to the published blog post and add in a YouTube Card.

Yes, you can use a landing page or sales page, but I suggest we educate, inspire or entertain first and let the blog post and video within it do the converting.

Better Your YouTube Optimization.

Calls to action other than Cards is a good idea, but, here is the deal, I hate, and you hate it when there are too many popus and CTA’s while watching a video. So go easy, and do not be too spammy.

Advertising (Adsense) is good, making some extra income from intro ads and what-not is okay, but like the popups above, not too many is usually a good rule to follow.

Of course, there are many other things you can do to better your YouTube optimization, but above are the very basics that can truly start making a difference today in traffic for you.

Remember, do not over-optimize anything online, especially your video, relax, be you, and make sure you stay on subject, the rest of it will work itself out as you get better at it.

Right On Dave adding video to your blog posts or website is the way to go, even if you have videos on there as a free offer, pretty soon as we get more and more into online business we will soon see more people doing video.
