How To Find Your Perfect Blogging Niche.

Yes, we will go over a few practical best practices when it comes to monetizing your new but, first, let’s find not just the right niche to be a part of, instead, let’s find a niche opportunity you want to be a part of.

Just because the “online business guru” told you that drop shipping troll dolls are growing in popularity does not mean it will be a great niche business to focus your future efforts upon, especially a blog and all that comes with it.

Most, and I will dare say that nearly 90% or more of the successful affiliate and niche marketers out here using blogs to build a sweet income with, most successful bloggers never followed the crowd into their chosen and current niche blog or online business.

Most decided to forget following the crowd and instead, followed their passion.


One of the best ways to find a seriously lasting and profitable niche is to look at your hobbies See, because of the power of the internet and blogging, your favorite things to do can be monetized today.

“find your passion, and then build on it.”

Personally, I suggest you come up with a list of 3 of your favorite pastimes, hobbies, or whatever you enjoy in life to build upon.

Like I said above, I do not see or know of many people hugely successful here over the long haul blogging about something that they have no real interest in. They may do well at first, some have I will admit, but if you ask me where they are today, I don’t know, I can’t find them.

Can You Monetize Your Passion?

Now there is a lot to be said about the question; “how niche should you get?

I think it depends on a few things. Are you talking about fly fishing in general, or do you live in Jacksonhole Wyoming where the world class fly fishing is popular? Think outside the box about how niche you need to be.

See, with something like fly fishing, for instance, you could get niche locally, and at the same time, create the kind of blog content that can be found in a more general search in Google.

So, in effect, you have a niche site that is both a general popular niche and a seriously cool local niche that both locals and tourist might come to love and trust!

How about hiking? The same idea can be applied. You could get specific with a niche blog that talks about hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. But, at the same time, you can grab a bigger audience with reviews, tools, tips and whatnot within the blog that is more general in nature.

Of course, Google will spit out the best and most local results first, but hey, hiking the PCT is a popular subject that gives you a little more opportunity of showing up on bigger results about hiking in general.

All that is dependent upon is the quality and consistency of your blog content.

And when it comes to the potential of income you can generate, you should be able to see at least if it is viable with these few tips here.

#1 – Check Google Keyword Planner.

Google Keyword Planner is the first stop on your way to knowing if your new niche blog idea is worth starting in the end, hey, you want to make money right? Right!

The only things to look at here are the following:

  1. Competition (and not because of what you might think)
  2. And, search volume under multiple keyword phrase results

Let’s look at an example.


Simple, and now you would know if there is enough search traffic actually to monetize. Here we have hiking as a general subject, yet we’ve gone niche by focusing around hiking the Pacific Crest Trail itself.

Competition, however, means how competitive those keywords are for Pay Per Click. But what some do not understand is that this can also spell out the fact that there is at least some competition within organic search results as well.

How do we know this? Well, if you think that people are competitive on the paid reach side of things, how do you think they will be in the organic search results?

Most of the time, you’ll find out that this tells you and I that there will be at least a few brands, bloggers, or other businesses vying for organic traffic, and are probably doing a good job with it.

Does that mean there is no room for you?


How To Monetize Your Niche Blog.

There are many ways to “skin” the proverbial cat when it comes to monetizing your niche blog. As a matter of fact, here are the most popular ways of making money with a blog:

  • Affiliate products and services
  • Affiliate programs (educational mostly)
  • Network marketing (most popular)
  • Your own product(s)
  • Your own service(s)
  • Affiliate ad networks

Like I said above, there are many, many ways to monetize your new blog, the question you’ll have is “what is the best way?

For you? I don’t know personally because I do not know you personally, yet that is. While many a guru out here would like to tell you how to monetize your blog with their products and services, I’ll be the first to tell you to wait, wait until you find what you appeals to you.

See, whatever appeals to you, you will be most transparent and honest about, and that will be most profitable for you!

Now I am not saying that everyone else is dishonest, what I am saying is that when you are more focused on the sell instead of the quality of information you are giving, well, you get my drift.

Err on the side of quality here, and you’ll err on the side of success.

The right monetization personally speaking is using the multiple stream approach. No, not 18 million different ways, just 2-3 different ways.

For instance, you could mix network marketing with affiliate marketing. Or, you could mix affiliate marketing with your own product or service. In the end, I would go with the multiple stream monetization of your blog, it simply works best.

And just so you know, there is a huge difference between passive and residual income too.

While some would believe falsehoods about certain platforms like network marketing that they are simply pyramid schemes, nothing could be further from the truth. As a matter off act, no other platforms online come with such great products and services, plus the compensation plans to truly build a residual income.

Affiliate marketing as I have said before a hundred times is great for a somewhat passive income. Yes, passive is great, just ask Pat Flynn, but here is the problem, passive is not lasting, it is not evergreen or residual.

Network marketing combined with affiliate marketing  is best as far as I am concerned. But, this is a personal belief, therefore subjective.

It does work well, though, just so you know.

No matter how you decide to monetize your new blog, what matters most is that you have the right idea about that blog. See, your blog and all around website is the hub of your online business interests online.

All things lead back to your blog, all things!
