Can You Really Make A Living With Print On Demand Online?

PIN print-on-demand

Stay Wild!” “Make America Great Again!” “Give Me Coffee, Mountains and a Trail.” And the list goes on in which you can include minimalist style to cluttered looking designs on t-shirts, hats, even coffee mugs and scarfs. This is print on demand, and yes, you can make a great living with it!

Not long ago, about 5 months at best, a good friend of mine, a student called to thank me for the content marketing training. Apparently, they (him and his wife) started a couple Shopify e-commerce stores and the print on demand had done nearly 100K in sales in 4-5 months alone.

So, yes, yes you can make a ton of money or a part-time income if you want with print on demand, and here is how to get started…

Make a living with print on demand.

I have a highly successful niche website, and I have a print on demand store to go with it. I do not do a lot of Facebook retargeting, but then again, I do not need to, my niche and the people that follow it are pretty involved with it and all it takes is to share a pic with a link to a shirt, hoodie, or coffee mug for that matter and they will sell today.

But, for some, it takes a little more time, and a little Facebook advertising and retargeting. So, here, I want to give you the basics of setting up your print on demand store and some marketing tips to get you possibly earning some money fast.

But, remember, it takes a few days or a couple weeks to really get rolling, so be patient.

My friend, the one I mentioned above, well, they failed more than 5 times before they ended up with two massive hits for e-commerce stores online today.

So, let me say this again, be patient, don’t go broke here, and keep it simple at first.

Let’s get set up with a print on demand store and business.

Finding your flavor (niche).

Finding your flavor in the print on demand world will be the hardest part of the journey here.

Yes, you can run over to iStock or Fiver and find some cool designs to use, but that does not mean people will like it, not even close. Personally speaking, I like a little brand to go with my shirts, coffee mugs and or, hats.

Here are some examples of brands I love to get t-shirts, hoodies, and hats from:

  • The Great PNW
  • PNWonderland
  • Sasquatch Coffee Company
  • Camp Brand Goods

Yes, I am a little biased with the Pacific Northwest here, but that is what I like, no, love!

I suggest you find your niche, or better yet, your flavor in life. Do you like humorous things better? Are you the more artsy-fartsy type? How about the logo guy or gal? Like or love fishing? Camping? Hot Rods? Or, like to get political?

These are the ideas and flavors that some have built small fortunes or extra income into with print on demand today.

What is yours? Once you got it, it’s time to open shop!

Get Shopify.

Yes, you can test different designs and whatnot on platforms like TeeSpring.Com, but, at the end of the day, when you do find your niche and what sells, get Shopify.

I prefer to have a well-branded shop like this here than some tee-shoppy thing that is really not all that good for free traffic via good SEO practices. As a matter of fact, 40% of an e-commerce stores traffic will be via search engines, and if you want, I’ll say VIA again!

Be a big girl or boy, okay, be an adult and treat this print on demand business like a business and get it up on Shopify, trust me, you will not regret it, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll come back here and thank me for the advice and tip!

I understand there are other great e-commerce platforms, heck, I would be the first to tell you I LOVE WORDPRESS! But, keep it simple, keep it professional, and give yourself a simpler learning curve by using Shopify, in the end, it will truly save you time.

Getting social.

From retargeting with your Facebook page to grow your reach through the possibilities of Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter for that matter will depend on the needs of your particular niche.

Personally speaking, you do not need more than say 2-3 social media platforms, and yes, Facebook is a must!

But, getting social is not just retargeting and advertising with Facebook, however, a good print on demand business will see over 60% of it’s income from Facebook itself, the other will come from content and engagement.

Think about it, you may sell 50K worth of product this month via Facebook ads, but what if you could, and for only 20 minutes or so a day, increase that monthly income by 30% or more?

Yeah, I thought that would get your attention.

That is what happened to my friend and his wife when they started implementing some of the social media and content marketing strategies I taught them nearly two years ago. Thye increased their income by just over 35%, that is awesome!

How did they do it? Easy, content.

Content marketing and branding.

Your social media and the content you create through your blog, video, and memes on social media will help to grow your brand and its reach.

As a matter of fact, that reach and the building of more eyeballs is FREE to do. Yes, it takes a little time, but after a couple months of it, my friend and his wife had over 100K in sales in each of those months after the fact.

Blogging is not hard, but it takes about an hour or so a week. Video on YouTube, well, that is the second largest search engine on the planet, and between that and your blog, well, the powerhouse of massive free traffic is there.

Your brand has no better place to grow than through the content you create like blog posts, videos, and social memes or Facebook notes.

I mean seriously if you do not want to start a blog, start with Facebook notes on your business page!

Print on demand is not demanding.

No, this is not a very demanding business opportunity online today. Just the opposite if you ask me, it is simple to run, and extremely low cost depending on what you want to spend for advertising.

This is why having a good grasp on Facebook advertising and content marketing is a must, one will save you time, the other money, but both will help to grow your brand and income.

Print on demand, as far as I am concerned, is a great choice for a start-up business online today, it is low cost, and if you get the right designs out there, and a good brand to go with it, well, you might just have a six-figure hit on your hands sooner than you think!
