It can be just as busy sometimes being a work at home dad as a work at an actual office dad. Maybe not for all of us, but coaches like myself working with individuals can put in a little more time than say an e-commerce store owner does.
But, I do that as well, plus two other businesses, and yet, I still have plenty of time to do what I want, when I want with my family.
Here is what being that work at home dad is like, and what it entails to accomplish this entrepreneurial lifestyle…
First things first.
First things first, I run three simple online businesses myself, and to tell you the truth, two of them only take about 3-4 hours to do out of my whole week.
The coaching here, however, well, that takes more time when it comes to giving people the quality time they need and deserve when it comes building a successful online business and lifestyle here.
But, I love my job(s) because, in the end, they are not really jobs as much as they are passions I simply monetized online.
And you, being on a post like this, well, you want or are interested at least in this type of business and life.
There most critical part of being a successful online entrepreneur though is the balance between family and work.
I do not care what those “automated” conversations are saying, and by whom they are being said, there is some amount of work to do here, and that takes time. Finding the right balance can be tougher with some money-making platforms here, like coaching or mentoring for instance.
It takes most of my time as far as my online ventures are concerned here because I am literally working with you. Thus, the reason to set up office hours.
The big question is, however, at least what I hear most is; “are you not working a job then?”
Well, yes, yes it is. But, here are my question to them; “Do you love your job? Does it pay more than the bills each month? And, can you take tomorrow off because you said so or, did you have to ask permission?”
By the way, I have two bosses, Jesus, and my wife, just so you know.
Finding that balance is important though, even I have caught myself working ‘all’ day once in a while, and when I do, I get back, no, I take back that balance between work and family!
And so, after a decade here of consulting for 3 Fortune 500 Companies, and hundreds of individuals with a nearly 70% success rate, let me show you how to get started the right way here, the first time, and with the right mix of the balance of work and family…
Finding your niche business.
“A happy wife, a happy life.” While that is a pretty funny saying, it is true I believe. But, what about a “happy work life?” what about having a career or business that you are not only proud of but, one that allows you that ‘happy life’ you may be dreaming about right now?
[signy_quote sgny_quote_content=”Finding the right niche is not just about finding some massive money-making hole that has gone unseen up til that point.”]
Finding the right niche is not just about finding some massive money-making hole that has gone unseen up til that point.
Actually, I look at finding the right niche like a marriage. Find the right one for you, treat her like a queen and best friend, and you will be happier in the long run, and have something that is rather strange today in such a self-centered society, a great and wonderful marriage!
In the end, finding the right niche for you is finding what you are passionate about and building an income around it.
And, the best tip here to find the right niche for you is to ask yourself this; “would you be happy talking about this subject 6 months from now, how about a year from now?”
If the answer is yes, then you found your answer and your niche.
The right platforms.
Dropshipping? Print on demand? Travel blogging? Life Coaching? Teaching Fly Fishing? Whatever your niche is you now need the right platform for your online lifestyle business venture.
For some, it will be the likes of Shopify or TeeSpring, and for others, well, WordPress.
And it does not stop at either a content management system like WP or an e-commerce platform like Shopify, it will also contain the need for the right social media platforms, and either video or podcast for audio or video content.
All of this, of course, will be determined not by you, but by the people who follow your subject and niche online, and the where and the how they follow it most.
All people and business types need a blog, but not all need video, some could stick with a podcast.
All need Facebook, but not all need Pinterest, maybe Instagram would serve you better!
Finding the right platforms and using them with purpose and direction is what a successful online entrepreneur does each and every time.
I do not do to-do lists, but I do set goals.
I hate to-do lists, I never seem to get them all done but, goals, well, that is different.
Goals are things that are set and are based on things that usually take more than a day to accomplish. When it comes to being a successful work at home dad (or mom for that matter) and building a successful business online, it takes goal setting.
It also takes gumption and follows through, the two things that spell disaster for most here. As a matter of fact, the over 80% of people that fail here can pretty much wrap that failure up to one of those two factors, or both in combination.
Want to succeed here? Well, I suggest you follow the advice above and take the gumption you have and protect it through follow through with the goals you set for yourself.
On being a dad first.
And, no matter what, as a work at home dad full of cliche’s that are true, faith and family always comes first, I don’t care who you are.
Without a supportive family, and without the faith it takes to rise above the issues you WILL have here and there, you will fail, period. It takes more than you to succeed here daddy’o, it takes all of you!
