Amazing Selling Machine Review | An Honest Review Of The Amazon Affiliate System

Amazing Selling Machine Review | An Honest Review Of The Amazon Affiliate System

So many opportunities online, so little time huh? Here is a simple, honest and unbiased review of the Amazing Selling Machine program and system for leveraging an income with Amazon “affiliate” products.

Please, hold your hate mail if you end up having any. I am only sharing what I have seen and heard from others within the system and, those who understand that shiny objects do break when mishandled.

So, let’s take a look together at the Amazing Selling Machine and see if this is the right fit for you online.

Amazon, It’s A Jungle Out There!

From the Brown Box Formula, to the latest craze the Amazing Selling Machine, there are many opportunities coming about every day to help you make money.

Before I dispense with this review, know this, I am not apart of the system, I have talked with others in it and, I am already a highly successful online entrepreneur, for a reason.

ASM came to me via email from, well, you got it, the affiliate marketing guru himself, Mr. Ryan Deiss. I know, I know, please, before you judge the system already, give me a chance here! (I smile).

To tell you the truth, the system actually makes sense to me. However, there were a couple disturbing facts within the “interview” about how to actually sell the products themselves. We will get to that later.

Here is the “little bit’ on what the owners Jason Katzenback and Matt Clark have to say about the ASM training system:

“It is not just a product that teaches some tips on listing and selling products on Amazon, but a complete guide to running, growing and scaling a real physical products business. The techniques in the program have been carefully designed to be very effective and easy to implement.”

While that and the sales video here does not really tell you much, as a successful affiliate marketer myself, I can try to peel apart at least a bit of it for you.

The Amazon Affiliate System…

Affiliate marketing is a beast, no matter what side of the coin you are talking about. Whether it is drop shipping your way to success with the Amazon brown boxes or, simply linking to products and services affiliate marketing is just that, affiliate marketing.

nick sasaki
My Friend Nick Sasaki!

While most of the highly successful marketers online would rather get a real job than drop ship, this in the end is what the Amazing Selling Machine is all about. And personally, I would rather drop ship than flip burgers for the man any day.

And while I do believe that the Amazing Selling Machine is affiliate marketing based, talking to a friend of mine, and highly successful in his own rights Nick Sasaki, here is what he believes about ASM, and I totatally agree:

“Why Selling Physical Products is Better than Affiliate Marketing”

  1. Your building YOUR own business, not someone else’s: This is so true Nick! Affiliate marketing has taken on a form over the last 5-6 years I think almost destroyed it, the “syndicate” issue I call it. To many people hocking software and cheap tricks created by gurus that are, in the end, not all that great.
  2. Your building a list of customers you can sell to in the future: True again. See, because you are actually selling mostly tangible products people usually purchase on a regular basis, your brand and name stay in tact. Because you are not selling every hack system out there and real products, you become the go-to guy or gal in the future.
  3. Your building authority and a brand that lasts: Like I said in the last statement, you are truly building the two things here online that matter to people as much as they do to search engines, authority and trust. That in turn…builds you a profitable brand over the long haul.
  4. Customers tell others who they trust, and where to get a deal: Your ASM business is your business, and if you build that type of brand people trust, well, people will spread the word almost as fast as a search engine. Nothing is better than word of mouth business, especially online.
  5. ASM is all about selling real products, not tricks and hack systems: This is an opportunity, this is a type of affiliate program, but this is not a typical program, it is real. Today’s affiliate industry could use a little more Amazing Selling Machine, and a whole lot less “syndicates” selling dreams. You go NICK!

See, when he opened my eyes a bit to the system itself, I could finally see that this is where affiliate marketing really should have it’s heart. See, it is my opinion that the best chance of success online is finding your passion, finding the products that you love within that passion and sharing your love for it.

Now that is success here online.
Below is a list of things that will have to be done within the ASM training system and affiliate program. While everyone will have their own opinions on each of these, I will share with you mine too, but from a different angle I believe.

Here Is What You Need To Know And Get Started With ASM:

• You have to get product samples from manufacturers (and pay the courier costs).

• If the product is substandard, you’ve lost the money you paid to see the product.

• You have to pay for space in a container on the ship when ordering from overseas suppliers (you pay per cubic meter).

• You sometimes have to order quite a large quantity of the product.

And there are probably other costs involved as well (this opportunity is not for someone on a tight budget).

Plus there’s the monthly payment of $997 (so it would take 4 months to go through the whole course and get up and running solidly).

Let’s look at these ideas (and sometimes complaints) together…

The Honest Look At AFS…

1. You have to get product samples from manufacturers (and pay the courier costs).

I have seen the many, many posts on Warrior Forum about this particular part of the system. I have also seen people like Ryan Deiss totally gloss over it.

However, I will tell you this; if you think that you will have no investments into your own unique business, you are dead wrong. And, even more to the fact, if you think you won’t make a few “purchasing” mistakes, you are wrong again.

This is not an opportunity to take lightly with the Amazing Selling Machine, you could lose big. But, on the other hand, given the right training on how to convert sales, I believe you could actually do very well.

(We will go over one of these converting ideas towards the end, one that ASM totally blew it on too.)

Be careful, be picky, be diligent. With this part of the program, you might even want to figure out if you can get a little more “localized” with your business.

2. If the product is substandard, you’ve lost the money you paid to see the product.

This, like I said above, is inevitable. You will have a few products along the way that will be disasters. But, this does not mean your business will fail, it just means that you never bet on that product again.

Start small, work your way up. I have seen the story of the 13 year old girl who made a million bucks on pencil toppers. She started with a simple product, a fun site and spread the word about it. Done.

3. You have to pay for space in a container on the ship when ordering from overseas suppliers (you pay per cubic meter)

I am unsure about this one. I do not think every product will require this, but it is one more thing to think about.

Try what I said above, test, test and test again. This is why having the one thing that ding and dong (the creators of ASM) said you did not need should be a must…we will mention it shortly.

4. You sometimes have to order quite a large quantity of the product. SEE BELOW!

5. You need someone to help you. I don’t care who you are, anyone new to something like Amazing Selling Machine needs more than just a collection of videos, you need a coach, mentor or leader. Just ask Nick.

Facts, Fiction…And Just Plain Old Crap…

There is plenty of training in the system when I talked with a few people in it. However, this does not mean that this is not an EXPENSIVE journey for those with a thin pocketbook.

And, here is what I wanted to say above:

You would be ignorant not too. See, one of the best ways to gauge a products viability fast is through a good piece of content about it. And, let me say this again, when Jason Katzenback and Matt Clark the creators of the

Amazing Selling Machine say you need no real presence online, THAT IS NOT COMPLETELY TRUE.

Hey, I call it as I see it. When online shopping grows like it does online and, the main street economy lags behind it, well, that is just simply absurd to say you need no blog, video or other content marketing happening.

I would use that presence to test certain products first. There is nothing better than creating a blog post, video and or articles to get a feel about what people may think of something.

That just makes friggin’ sense. So Matt and Jason, that is simply stupid to even suggest. But, then again, when self proclaimed affiliate marketers are promoting the system to hapless folks online who do not know better, well, that is the kind of advice to expect.

If you do decide to get into the Amazing Selling Machine affiliate system and program, make sure that you use every FREE METHOD of testing products before you decide to buy a crate full.

Amazing Selling Machine Update October 9th 2014.

Recently, I have been inundated with new emails from within the Amazing Selling Machine system.

While the system is still currently closed, I have noticed a FREE tool called “Spotlight” has come out to help people better target brandable products and, the fact that they are about to open their doors for the fourth time…

I think this is a great tool. Much like Google Keyword Planner or Google Trends for the SEO consultant, Spotlight can help you better determine the best and most affordable products within Amazon.

However, I do think that people, of their own accord, can learn how to choose these products using common sense and the right marketing tools and platforms online. Math, it is a basic precept we learned through our formal educations growing up, use it.

Again, the system is great, but you can, if you feel like it, get all the training you need at Amazon itself, and for free.

Also, I wanted to talk for a second Press Releases Vs. Blog Posts for marketing your affiliate system with ASM or, the products themselves from Amazon.

Press Releases you need to know carry little link juice today as far as SEO is concerned, just as PR Web, they will tell you this directly, they have to.

I suggest a blog. See, a Press Release is “time sesnsitive” in nature, this is why news organizations use them to get out the “latest information” that is happening at that time.

Blogging however, this is not only time sensitive, but is also considered a more “evergreen” or “trusted” source of information by the search engines themselves. This is why you see ranking of your Press Releases fall after so much time.

However, you do not see much movement with a solid blog post that incorporates such media as videos, imagery and, words.

When it comes to your Amazing Selling Machine presence and business online, I would review carefully the most effective marketing strategies online first before you spend thousands of dollars on a system you do not know how to market.

A few others things your review and the courses don’t mention that annoys me greatly ie it is not easy to execute as a non-US person not living in the US, a lot more hoops to get through for one getting paid from Amazon into a US bank account. I assume your review is for US people only with statements like “when ordering from overseas suppliers” meaning outside of the USA?

There is a cheaper course for around $300 that has been around longer than them all which doesn’t come with all the hyped BS and affiliates watering at the mouth to make commissions. Google Jim Cockrum and Amazon and you will find it, it’s where I ended up once I did all the research and they cover the internationally issues for non US people – some people do have a brain in IM and have traveled 🙂

    • David Boozer Author October 8, 2013 at 10:50 pm

Yes, I did leave that out only because my fingers started hurting from typing sooo much…=) But you are right, to a point.
Other countries run on more regulations unfortunately which is why there is such an issue. I say FREE THE PEOPLE! Let us
all make a dime without the hoops! =)I will check out the Cockrum thing….thanks Danny!

Yes, Amazon is a very good program. Name brand items and great deals. The name and their authority in the customer service niche will lend trust in the seller. I began selling with Amazon almost 10 years ago. Not a power seller by any means, but made a few coins that helped out. Unfortunately, Amazon has seen fit to close the affiliate program to those of us in Maine. Our state has made some changes to the tax laws, and until those are settled properly, Amazon has to suspend our ability to sell through them. Lovely, eh?

    • David Boozer Author October 8, 2013 at 10:47 pm

That sucks. How is it a State can cut out entrepreneurialism? I just don’t get it, especially over taxes…argh!

  • November 1, 2013 at 8:46 am

    Hey Dave,

I’m in ASM now and can tell you that they advocate diversifying with your own ecommerce site later on and using facebook, you tube, etc for promo of your product. Your right you have to minimize risk by ordering small amounts of products to test but you also need look at it as learning the Private Label process by “doing”.It’s definitely a viable business model but suggest people interested in it go through the first four weeks, get your $997 refunded and use that for inventory and setup costs – would amount to between $500-$1,000.

    • Frank November 7, 2013 at 6:32 pm

Great- drop out and get your ton of inventory and set on it while we who stay in the course suck up all the traffic and customers using the rest of the course materials to run circles around you! Good strategy! ,

I viewed all three of Matt’s and Jason’s Amazing Selling Machine videos. I did not take their trng for several reasons. But here are my thoughts. I’m sure beyond a shadow of doubt that I will find great success on Amazon. I have been doing IM for over ten yrs and much of what they teach, I have already been doing but with info products and trng.

Here is the thing: based upon my professional opinion, I believe many individuals will be lulled into this Amazon business but will fail because of the unique requirements and personal skills that people will find out they need but they don’t have.

It is not the $$ investment that will be the challenge; it will be the unique skill sets that some, if not many, students of Matt and Jason just won’t pick-up in their trng regardless of how good their program is. Don’t get me wrong, some will pick up the nuts and bolts and succeed on Amazon. But it will be because of the the personal traits and skills already imbedded in them.

  • Tao Pham January 18, 2014 at 9:57 am

I sold over $1.2M last year through amazon channel only. That’s not included The problem is that finding a new product to sell on amazon is too much work for me. I started to like the idea of building your own brand name or listing. I have to admit that ASM is a little pricy for some people, but they have some amazing build program such back-link build up, auto-reviews follow up. I have look over thousand website to find the program “Follow up with customer” but never able to find them. I guess ASM is only way I should go. I studied all their class for FREE, but I can’t access their program unless I have to pay $3.5K. If you know any alternative website, please let me know!

Lead Generation Cafe. Cheaper and Better.

      • Ed October 17, 2014 at 8:35 am

I read your review about ASM. Honest objective criticism helps. I need help to get an online business. Any suggestions. I like ASM but I definitely gonna need some help or mentoring

        • David Boozer Author October 17, 2014 at 1:01 pm

Hey Ed, go ahead and get the free videos up top here and give me a shout out over the weekend… I have ASM’ers in my system.

  • Mario March 6, 2014 at 9:22 am

I’m in ASM program, came into this page fro ma friend that’s doing his research…

All I can say is I have tried and failed many online marketing Riches-Promising programs, and this one, ASM is the real deal. Went from having sold zero physical products to selling $6500 in my first 45 days, with a profit margin of 50%. I am 100% confident, I will be making 10x that in less than a year because of the “rinse and repeat” nature of the program.

Yes, you do absoluetely need some skills:

    Following instructions.
At least an extra $2000 on top of the course (inventory, logo design, etc etc)

P.S. I am not an affiliate and no one asked me to post my results.

    • David Boozer Author March 6, 2014 at 1:55 pm

Great job MARIO! and thank you for the REAL comment! Keep it up!

    • Chritina April 23, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Thank you for posting this information. I was doing my research prior to purchasing the ASM training program. After reading the reviews of others, I am starting to see that it is highly dependent on the mindset and drive of the individual. I decided to make the purchase 🙂

      • David Boozer Author April 23, 2014 at 8:37 pm

Oh great Christina…and if Mark is the person you signed up with he is an excellent coach. =)

  • Michael Langan March 11, 2014 at 12:59 pm

I am evaluating whether the ASM is worth the value. Amazon seems to be evolving everyday. The Private Label is intriguing. If I can solve that on my own, I will be increasing sales. BTW $6,500 in last 30 days by just staying focused on the prize.

As for coffee, check out the link below. If you want a bag see “Colorado Peaks Coffee” on Amazon. There is o other coffee like this in the universe. If I can find a coffee blog I will post the infer there.

    • David Boozer Author March 11, 2014 at 1:44 pm

I think ASM is fine. As a matter of fact I know someone in it right now doing well. And, I do buy that from time to time =).

  • Keith Smith April 21, 2014 at 1:31 am

Hmm…loving this review. It has got me rethinking about investing in ASM. Thanks sir.

    • David Boozer Author April 21, 2014 at 3:11 am

No problem.. thanks for the comment Keith =)

  • Jim April 21, 2014 at 1:16 pm

Dave…Thank you for this review site regarding ASM. I have been on the fence wondering whether or not to make the investment. I decided to look around at reviews for the program, and I thank you for your honesty about ASM. The investment part is obviously large, but the other comments that were made about becoming involved with the program are more telling to me than just the investment. I have been looking for years to find the right program for myself, and I was almost convinced about ASM. But now I am backing off be re-thinking this based on others comments. Thanks again Dave for reviewing this program.

    • David Boozer Author April 21, 2014 at 1:28 pm

No problem Jim, thank you for the comment. I think the system itself is good, and depending who you work with, it could work out well. Just make sure you stick to it and learn how to build it properly. =)

  • tom May 9, 2014 at 3:37 am

how did you get your start mrboozer. who was your mentor

    • David Boozer Author May 9, 2014 at 4:05 am

I was a part of a system that is gone now, so are most of the people, even the individual who brought me into it, but it was well worth it.

  • Daniel White May 10, 2014 at 11:33 am

Regarding Danny Mallinder’s comment about running the Amazon business from over seas. Given my previous experience doing consulting work for a US company from over seas and the information I’ve gotten from the ASM course, I don’t see a problem at all.

Amazon pays you by depositing in the USA bank account. Then you’ve got to get money from your USA account, but that’s not a problem. There are wire transfers, PayPal, using your ATM card. I’ve been doing this for years without a problem.

Of course I already had a USA bank account when I started (why would I want to give up my bank accounts when I move to a foreign country). ASM does explain methods for getting a USA bank account without traveling there, but I haven’t tried that so I don’t know if that’s a problem. Though worst case you could always make a drip there to open an account.

And there is an added advantage ASM doesn’t mention. If you live and work over seas, you can get an income tax exemption of your first approximately $95,000 of earned income each year. ‘

I’d be interested in hearing what problems Danny has had or knows of with selling with FBA while living over seas.

  • martie May 28, 2014 at 2:39 pm

I’ve just learned about ASM as I am looking at an business oppertunity, so I an very pleased about
everybody’s reviews and comments. Gives me a far better insite. Thanks.

    Good afternoon
I am reluctantly posting my question because well I love my husband and he is so passionate about your program but we are just not financially able to. We have been researching grants ect. I would absolutely love to help him find a way to enroll. Can you please give us a suggestion or help a hard working deserving man get a chance of a lifetime. I apologize for being so candid but it important and I would be extremely ecstatic for any advice.
    Have a great afternoon

Mr. Boozer, great article! I am definitely reconsidering. I have a very unique program and product that i am looking to promote on Amazon. I tried to find the Lead Generation Cafe website but had no luck. Can you give me the actual site? Thank you.

This one. If you have any questions about the system please email me and I take FREE time with you to go over your businesses path online… =) God Bless.

The affiliate program I signed up for has 4,300 people in it. They are just 1 out maybe 50 or more affiliates pushing this program. All told my guess is 40,000-50,000 people or more have signed up for and taken this program. Like many programs – everyone makes the money on selling you info, not their own success. They sell you the info because they maxed out and decided their knowledge was worth more. They sell the program twice a year and bank up 10 millions while diluting the Amazon market with 1,000s of new sellers.
I would recommend you save your $6,000 and give yourself the leeway to make mistakes and learn as you go.

    • David Boozer Author June 23, 2015 at 12:58 pm

I agree to a point Brett. But, you can make money with the training, it is just really, really difficult. While I am not a part of the system, using the training that is free from AMazon itself is, well, free =)

Ever since I decided to get ASM finally, I’ve been reading as many reviews of the program as possible – and found your excellent review of great help in making my decision to buy Amazing Selling Machine.

Thank you. I’ll be back after 3 or 4 months to share my results with the program.
