5 Content Marketing Trends We Should Consider Paying Attention To Today, Not Tomorrow…

5 Content Marketing Trends We Should Consider Paying Attention To Today, Not Tomorrow…

Here are 5 content marketing trends over the next year that all new online business owners and entrepreneurs should consider paying close attention to today, and not when it is too late.

By the way, I also believe these content marketing practices are and will continue to be more “evergreen” in nature. They are the future best practices that have always been just that, the best practices of effective content marketing.

So, with that, let’s look at these trends both separately, and how we can use them together to help increase your reach, influence, and of course, your bottom line…

This Crazy Cycle Of Content Marketing Trends.

It’s crazy trying to keep up with the world of internet marketing, but content marketing, well, that is a little easier as we are talking about the content itself. Yes, there are many forms of content, but trust me, there are a million internet marketing practices and so-called hacks out here.

Besides, eventually, I will probably become a content marketing and blogging specialist in the next two years as content marketing’s many forms becomes standard for all business ventures online. Not too mention, I love coaching and helping people grow a successful web presence.

And to tell you the truth, I love creating content, it’s fun! It’s creative! It is “freeing” as Ryan Biddulph would say! It is also effective as far as generating and converting traffic online.

Now some of you, and you know who you are, you are still looking for scrapers and other supposed and so-called content marketing software that is designed to make your content creating life easier. Well, good luck with that.

This cycle of shortcut-seeking-madness needs to end here, or else your success here will be all that much hindered.

Content marketing trends can be good, and they can be a huge waste of time. And just so you know, the trends yesterday of “cornerstone content” are the same trends today called “evergreen content” in case you were wondering. Yes, some things do not change, they just simply get renamed or, re-branded by smart marketers.

So, let’s get on to some of the trends today, that are in reality, trends that have been trending forever in online and offline marketing forever…, I hope you get that…

#1 – The Storytellers.

According to QuickSprout.Com storytelling within the internet marketing world, and of course, traditional marketing landscape is defined as;

Storytelling is a powerful technique for building relationships. It’s an age-old concept that brings people together and keeps them engaged. It doesn’t matter where in the world you’re based or what your business or niche is about.

To tell you the truth, I love that definition!

It is not the kind of storytelling your grandmother would break the switch off the tree about after Church either (that happened), it is the good kind of storytelling that connect, personalizes, and brands you to someone’s heart and mind.

From the day John Deere created a simple newsletter (content) that connected with farmers with his brand, as well as other farmers, to today where blogs about any subject are published every day, stories are still what connects.

Most people buy on emotion, and eventually, rationalize the purchase later. And this is a good thing, don’t get me wrong, I bought into an internet marketing training program in the hopes of learning a new trade to help me create that “new economy” job.

I love my job, and that was the best decision I ever made in my professional life.

And guess what? Yes, I sell that attitude through content like this. So yes, no matter what someone or some brand says out here, we create content to connect with you, and to promote our products and services one you are ready for them. (Hint, the last part of that means most of us are not pushy)

Your story, my story, they all help to connect personally ourselves, our products, and or, our services to you, our potential subscriber and hopefully, lifelong customer.

This is not a new strategy or practice, storytelling through great content has been around forever. However, most new business owners and online entrepreneurs today are still looking for the shortcuts and software and other gimmicks to succeed when all it takes is a good story, and a system to get it out there and visible.

Start telling the real stories that connect people with you, your brand, and your solutions today…

#2 – Becoming “Real” Through Imagery.

About 35% of the pictures you find on my blog today are taken by me. As a matter of fact, one on this page is! Ha!

Personalized imagery is not just for the personal bloggers and online journals; it is for you and me to as well. We need to stand out with our content today, but how do we do that with all the noise we find on social media, search engines and other platforms like YouTube and so on?

Well, one way is to truly personalize your business’ brand is through imagery. And yes, personally I believe even larger companies should start taking heed to the message personalized imagery can afford them online.

Here are some facts I found here at Hubspot about imagery use online for marketers and business owners:

  • 1) Researchers found that colored visuals increase people’s willingness to read a piece of content by 80%. Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 2) When people hear information, they’re likely to remember only 10% of that information three days later. However, if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people retained 65% of the information three days later.Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 3) 46% of marketers say photography is critical to their current marketing and storytelling strategies. Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 4) 34% of marketers selected visual assets as their most important content, behind blogging (45%) and before videos (19%). Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 5) 65% of senior marketing executives believe that visual assets (photos, video, illustrations, and infographics) are core to how their brand story is communicated. Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 6) Content with relevant images gets 94% more views than content without relevant images. Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 7) Only 27% of marketers have a process in place to aggregate, organize, and manage the visual assets being used across their marketing teams. Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 8) 39% of marketers believe that more of their budget should be allocated to the acquisition or creation of compelling visual assets. Tweet this stat! (Source)
  • 9) 73% of content creators plan to prioritize creating more engaging content in 2016, and 55% plan to prioritize creating visual content. Tweet this stat!(Source)
  • 10) 51.9% of marketing professionals worldwide name video as the type of content with the best ROI. Tweet this stat! (Source)

A web presence with great imagery is just that, a great blog with great imagery! Want to grab attention fast in what is coined an “attention economy?” I suggest imagery, good imagery.

Stock photos do not always tell the story better than you can, so consider using your images, and or, images that truly speak to you and the content you create.

#3 – The Long Form Content Creators.

What’s better than chocolate? Well, long form content!

“We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of dreams.” – Willy Wonka

Did you know that long form content is in more demand on mobile devices than any other? It’s true; people love to read long-form content, ebooks, and Kindle books via their smartphone compared to tablets, laptops, and even desktops.

And another fact remains true today; that long form well-written content has a better chance of ranking and sticking high in the search engines than any other. Oh, when I say well-written, I do not mean you need to pretend to be Mark Twain here, it just needs to be accurate, enjoyable or useful, and readable. (I suggest Grammarly) for the technical stuff…

How many words is considered “long-form” content? Well, I would say. Personally, 1500 plus words are where my long form content begins.

#4 – Live Stream Video & Webinars.

Currently, I am getting back to the WMC (Weekly Marketing Cache) programs via Zoom, a live webinar and conference platform.

Yes, partly the reason is that it is a great way to convert traffic, but the other reason is that “IT IS GREAT FOR CONVERTING TRAFFIC!

Sorry to get carried away here, but recorded webinars and live streams are great for your content marketing efforts, and as far as myself and my peers (friends) here online are concerned, this is a content marketing trend that will never go away, like video, or blogging.

This content medium or webinars and lives stream, recorded and played back or not, is the kind of content that truly personalizes you, your brand, and oh yeah, YOU!

Webinars, and or streaming live events, are perfect for any niche I believe, any niche going forward.

#5 – Video, And Not Just YouTube.

Youtube is not the only platform with a lot of searching going on Vimeo and other platforms get plenty of traffic today, and that is because video content is the preferred way to consume content online today.

If it has a video alternative to reading, video, on average is the choice most people will choose when it comes to “educational” types of content. Why? Well, most people are visual learners in the first place, plus with all the mobile devices today, it is simply easier to access.

While I have come to love blogging just a little bit more than creating videos, it is still my strong suit, and it is the strong suit for most people online because it is the best platform for converting traffic.

It is also, well, Youtube that is, is the second largest search engine online, and that fact alone is the reason I made myself comfortable with video, and why it is still a trend for content marketers and online entrepreneurs going forward.

No video, no business online as far as I am concerned…

Content Marketing Trends That Matter.

What matters most are not the trends, it is the ways and the platforms your potential traffic prefers to consume the content they need or want. And if you noticed above, these fact-based trends are mostly content marketing platforms and mediums that have actually been around a long time now.

The only reason they are trending is because smart marketers like yourself are starting to use them to build a serious brand and online business with.

So, with that, get started today growing a base of content that builds what matters to people like you and me, trust and authority.

Really great blog post! So, so true about video and LIVE video – if you’re not doing it, you’re pretty much obsolete. Storytelling is something I love – and it just reaches in and touches the hearts of people. Might as well combine the two! Love it!

Personally, I prefer short-form content, around 400-600 words. Though I also appreciate long-form content because it definitely provides more value, since there are more pieces of information shared. But honestly, whenever I see good long-form content, I only tend to bookmark it, then never read it again.
