I am an author. As a matter of fact, I am a blogger too, well, I guess you get that. Here is why I am both an author and a blogger and why you, the new author need a blog, and some extra skills to go with it.
From one author (no, not a great one like you, but an author nonetheless) to another, trust me, a blog can catapult your future in the written word like no other platform out here.
Here I want to help you not only understand why a blog can help you grow your brand and visibility, but I will also share with you some tips to get started blogging the right way, the first time.
Yes, new book authors like you need a blog.
Well, you like to write like I do, so why not get a blog if not just to fulfill that need to write for the sake of writing? Yeah, I think that is a good enough reason too.
But, some may not, and if you do not, well, this blog post is for you!
Branding and visibility.
Let’s start with the obvious, the internet is the internet is the internet, yes, I said that twice on purpose (so nice, I said it twice!).
A blog can contain the kind of content that can not only be shared across most social media platforms, but it can also handle more than just text and images, it can contain within it video, podcasts and much, much more.
Basically, a blog can hold the kind of content that can truly be found easier across the web, and all the while driving those eyeballs who have an interest in your particular author’s niche, or better yet, world.
A blog can be a place to share your current work, current ideas, and new ideas and work as they come. It is a place you can write it all out and test things with your readers to gauge interest in those new ideas and content.
A blog is also the perfect place to launch a book, just as Jeff Goins, I am sure he’d agree!
A blog is a great place to connect with your readers and fans as well. This one platform is one of the best online for creating that daily or weekly connection to your fans that can truly create what matters later, brand advocates! People left and right sharing your content and your work for free!
Influence and connection.
A great blog can also catapult you and your personal brand into the eyes of other authors, even well-known ones possibly.
Either way, making friends in high places, or on the level you are at is a great thing! A blog and all its awesome content can get you into new and powerful relationships.
As for myself as an example, today I’ve met people within the world of my other niche blog of whom are celebrities. This connection creates influence and influence creates more eyes within the community or niche world itself.
But don’t forget, share and share alike is the key to building a blog that creates the kind of connection that builds influence. Do not be selfish here, share as much of other people’s content as your own!
Building raving fans.
In the end, a blog builds fans as I stated briefly above. And not just any fan, but a raving fan!
Why? Well, we want to feel like we are a part of your world, even a part of the creating process as you the author decide to share new ideas for new books a content.
Not to mention you get the chance to turn those who “like” your art into fans through sharing the author side of your life in a more personable way with a blog.
So, with that, this is my list of the 3 simple, but powerful reasons new authors need a blog. Seriously, you are new here, might as well take your art and put it out in front of the entire world!
